Justice Delayed and Justice Denied: An Asper Centre Report Launch Panel
Join the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights for a lecture by Professor Kent Roach on the rule of law and unconstitutional legislation, and for the launch of the Asper Centre’s report, Justice Delayed and Justice Denied: Unconstitutional Legislation as Unconstitutional Harm.
The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion with the Hon. Arif Virani, P.C., K.C. (Senior Counsel, Torys; Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, 2023 – 2025), Professor Vanessa MacDonnell (University of Ottawa Faculty of Law), and Rob De Luca (Research Associate, Asper Centre). Moderated by Professor Brenda Cossman, the discussion will explore issues raised by the lecture and the report, including how unconstitutional legislation and delays in its parliamentary or judicial resolution may affect constitutional rights protection, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.
