As Dean Jutta Brunnée concludes her term as dean of the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto on January 31, 2026, we extend our deep appreciation to her for her remarkable leadership, vision, and service. Over the past five years under her leadership, Dean Brunnée has strengthened the Faculty’s global reputation for excellence in legal education, research, and community engagement. 

 

With her vision and guidance, the Faculty advanced key strategic priorities, including expanding student financial aid, deepening experiential and clinical learning opportunities, and fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and globally connected academic community. Her commitment to supporting innovative scholarship and empowering the next generation of legal thinkers and leaders has left a lasting impact on the Faculty. 

 

A champion of access to justice and transformative education, Dean Brunnée’s leadership has helped shape many of the Faculty’s most meaningful initiatives, from student-facing programs to major philanthropic and alumni engagement milestones during the Defy Gravity campaign. 

 

As we mark this transition, we thank Dean Brunnée for her dedication, integrity, and visionary stewardship of Jackman Law. We look forward to celebrating her contributions as she continues her distinguished work as a scholar and leader in international law.
