Kamari Clarke Selected as Finalist for 2025 SSHRC Impact Award
Kamari Clarke, Distinguished Professor with the Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies and the Centre for Diaspora & Transnational Studies at the University of Toronto, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) 2025 Impact Awards in the Insight Award category.
Clarke is cross-appointed with the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law.
"As a finalist, Kamari Clarke is recognized as a champion in bringing forward the very best ideas in the social sciences and humanities, and in helping us understand and improve the world around us, today and into the future," wrote Ted Hewitt, SSHRC President, in a letter of congratulations on August 20, 2025 to U of T President Meric Gertler.
The SSHRC Impact Awards are designed to build on and sustain Canada’s research-based knowledge culture in all research areas of the social sciences and humanities, and recognize outstanding researchers and celebrate their achievements and outreach activities funded at least in part by SSHRC.
The winners in each SSHRC award category (Talent, Insight, Connection and Partnership, and the Gold Medal) will be announced on November 24, 2025.
