Intensive Course: Law, Institutions and Development

Note: Attendance at intensive courses is mandatory for the duration of the course.
This seminar will examine the role of law and institutions in promoting development in less developed countries. It presents an overview of the academic debates on Law and Development and its main conceptual keys. The course addresses relevant issues for the field, such as the role of the rule of law and democracy, inequalities based on gender, race and ethnicity and how these debates impact on public policies and regulatory frameworks.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on a final 90-minute closed book exam (90%) and 10% participation in class discussion. The exam will be on Friday, January 29, 2027.
