Legal Advice and Representation
We provide free legal services for low-income residents of Toronto and University of Toronto students in eight areas of law: criminal law, refugee and immigration law, employment law, housing law, family law, disability law, university affairs, and prison law. Depending on your case, this may include providing advice about the law and your options, negotiating with the other side and representing you at a trial or hearing. We also provide notary/affidavit services for a small fee.
We design and deliver information sessions and plain-language legal education workshops about all of the areas of law that we practice.

Downtown Legal Services operates several clinics at satellite locations as part of our ongoing commitment to expand access to justice for underserved groups by meeting clients where they are.
Our current satellite clinic locations are:
- Evangel Hall Mission (EVM);
- The Native Canadian Cultural Centre;
- The University of Toronto Student Union.
We also regularly partner with Homeless Connect Toronto to provide summary advice at different neighbourhoods in Toronto.
