
Kenisha Ratnalingam
Kenisha is currently pursuing her studies at McMaster University within the Faculty of Social Sciences. She volunteers with the Canada Edition of the Brooks Animal Law Digest: Canada Edition, where she contributes by proposing and drafting stories that highlight critical issues in animal law. Her strong commitment to human rights deeply informs her research and advocacy in animal law, further fueling her passion for the field.

Bhudhav Joshi
Bhudhav is a Grade 12 IB student at White Oaks Secondary School in Oakville, Ontario, dedicated to advocacy and leadership. He is a student researcher for our Brooks Animal Law Digest: Canada Edition. Bhudhav’s passion for animal advocacy translates into his role in the Halton District School Board (HDSB) Student Senate, where he represents student voices and promotes positive change within schools. As part of the Environmental and Entrepreneurship Pillar, Bhudhav champions young entrepreneurial minds and promotes environmental initiatives that benefit his peers and the community.

Aaisha Hassan
Aaisha is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus. She is passionate about law, politics, and animal law advocacy. She volunteers her time to contribute to our Brooks Animal Law Digest: Canada Edition
Additionally, she actively serves as a Student Senator and is an Executive for multiple clubs at her school. Aaisha co-founded and hosted TEDxGWSS, works in the Mayor’s office as part of her co-op, and is the President of the Youth Council for MPP Stephen Crawford. She is also a member of MP Anita Anand’s Youth Council. With over 300 hours of volunteer experience, she is dedicated to leadership, advocacy, and community involvement.

Clara Thorburn
Clara is a student at University of Toronto Schools (UTS), where she was the recipient of the UTS Alumni War Memorial Scholarship in 2024. She has a passion for history, animal rights, urban geography, and languages (English, French, German and Latin). Clara is a volunteer for Toronto History Museums. She was selected for Berkeley University’s Advanced Oral History Institute, where she was able to workshop oral history projects with university students, professors and oral historians. Clara loves to read, play the flute, swim, and write in her spare time. While Clara is committed to making the world safe and welcoming for all animals, dogs and horses (especially Ojibwe Spirit Horses) have a special place in her heart.
