The diverse career options enjoyed by our graduates begin with an engaging, tailored approach in the classroom. We collaborate with students to get your input, design our programming and resources, and ensure that our career advisors meet you where you are at every step in your journey.
Bespoke career advice
Each graduate student has their own ambitions and each is building their own career story. Our close-knit team is fully invested in your personal success – and will provide holistic career-minded support throughout your time at U of T Law.

Supporting our diverse community
Our graduate classrooms are rich with diversity, from students launching a career in law to veteran legal scholars joining from other countries. As a result, we design holistic support to help you showcase your distinct candidacy in the market and empower you to build on your hard work and creative responsiveness to challenges you may have faced. Graduates land exciting roles across a diverse range of careers, including government, in-house, public interest, research, full-service firms, boutique firms, solo practices, and more.

In-program career support
Our doctoral and LLM students pursuing an academic career path receive close mentorship support from their graduate supervisor and research committee. Students in the GPLLM access ongoing guidance in navigating careers in law, becoming licensed to practice Canadian law, building professional networks, and much more. They also learn how to leverage their legal education to advance their careers.

Access personalized services
Our extensive career management platform houses vast resources, interview and application guides, job postings across Canada, and more. We offer one-on-one appointments and group sessions, application reviews, tailored workshops, networking events, mentorship opportunities, and a wealth of written and audio-video resources to help you engage in your licensing processes and career development.

Close employer relationships
We work closely with employers to ensure they understand our program and the exceptional calibre of our graduate students. As a result of these close-knit relationships, we provide our students with the opportunity to participate in events that introduce you to a wide variety of employers to network and learn about different practice areas.
