Awards Policy for LLM Students
Financial support from Jackman Law is available to a small number of LLM candidates who have not secured external or university-wide awards (e.g. SSHRC, OGS) and demonstrate financial need and academic excellence. Applicants seeking financial support must complete the Financial Assistance Application Form provided within their online admissions application.
The average award is in the range of $5,000 to $15,000, with a bit of variation from year to year. Please note that the Faculty is not able to provide full funding packages for international students. Students, both domestic and international, are encouraged to explore other sources of funding, like external awards to which students are eligible to apply, including awards that are external to the faculty but administered by the University, awards external to the University, lines of credit, government loans, personal savings, so on and so forth.
Awards Policy for SJD Students
SJD students receive a funding package that is equivalent to $40,00, inclusive of tuition, for three years. Funding is conditional on satisfactory progress and may be reallocated in accordance with the Faculty's Awards Policy when students are in receipt of large external or university-wide awards (e.g. SSHRC, OGS, Vanier, etc.).
