Hadar Dancig-Rosenberg

Hadar Dancig-Rosenberg (LL.B., LL.M., Ph.D.) is a Full Professor of Law and Associate Dean for International Affairs at the Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Law. An internationally recognized scholar of criminal law and criminal justice, she has held recurring visiting appointments at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, UC Berkeley School of Law, and Goethe University Faculty of Law in Frankfurt.

Professor Dancig-Rosenberg’s scholarship lies at the intersection of criminal law theory, criminal justice reform, and therapeutic jurisprudence. Her work focuses in particular on alternatives to incarceration and on therapeutic, restorative, and community-oriented models of justice. Over the past decade, she has co-led several multi-year empirical studies of community courts, collaborative courts, and other extra-legal and informal community justice settings around the world. She is an Affiliate of the Center for the Study of Law and Society at Berkeley Law and a recipient of the 2024 Phi Beta Kappa Northern California Association Excellence in Teaching Award (https://pbknca.com/Teaching).

Professor Dancig-Rosenberg is the co-founder and co-chair of the Israeli Criminal Law Association. Prior to joining Bar-Ilan University, she served as a clinical professor and as Academic Director of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Legal Aid Clinic for Violence Against Women. Her work has been published in leading international law journals, and she has received numerous grants and distinctions for excellence in scholarship and teaching.
