Julia Cappellacci
Julia Cappellacci, B.Sc. 2019 (McGill), J.D. 2024 (Toronto) is Crown Counsel at Crown Law Office – Criminal in Toronto, where she returned to as counsel after articling and following her call to the bar in 2025. Julia appears before the Ontario Court of Appeal on criminal motions and appeals, provides legal opinions on matters requiring Attorney General consent, and works on trials with the Office’s Justice Prosecutions Unit. Previously, Julia summered in refugee and immigration law, and completed an internship with the United Nations assisting in the prosecution of crimes committed in state detention centres.
While completing her law degree at the University of Toronto, Julia co-led a working group with the International Human Rights Program that documented crimes committed during the crisis in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions. As a student with Downtown Legal Services, she provided supervised representation to individuals charged with summary conviction offences and University of Toronto students facing disciplinary procedures, in addition to providing legal assistance on summary conviction appeals to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Julia also participated in the Baby Gale Moot Court Competition, the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, and the Faculty of Law’s Grand Moot. Julia later coached the Jessup as a law student and has twice served as a judge in the Canadian rounds of the competition.
