Future of Law Lab

The Future of Law Lab sits at the intersection of law, innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. Through our activities, we explore the key questions shaping the legal field. We promote, support, and develop programs examining the evolution of law practice.

Our work

We are a legal laboratory based at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law that focuses on experiential learning, research & strategic policy development, inter-disciplinary knowledge sharing, and job creation.

Our impact

The Future of Law Lab empowers the next generation of legal professionals through hands-on learning, interdisciplinary research, and cross-sector collaboration. With over 25 research projects completed in the last three years, 90+ Hack-A-Thon participants, and 8 original case simulations developed, we provide dynamic opportunities for students and scholars to explore the evolving legal landscape. Each year, we create 25 student jobs and foster innovation through 9 external and 3 internal collaborations, connecting academia, industry, and policy in shaping the future of law.

Student opportunities

Students gain hands-on experience at the intersection of law, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation through job opportunities, interactive events, and research-driven projects. Opportunities are designed to build practical skills, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and prepare students for the evolving legal landscape.
