LLM Seminar: Introduction to the Canadian Legal System
Description
Please note that this section of the LLM Seminar is intended for students who lack prior exposure to the common law and/or who are looking to become familiar with the foundations of Canadian law and the Canadian legal system. This section of the LLM Seminar is not intended for students who have already completed a LLB/JD in Canada as the course content will be duplicative of content covered during their previous undergraduate legal studies.
This course is intended to provide graduate students with (1) a basic understanding of the common law, including how to read, rely on, and distinguish cases; (2) the structure of the Canadian legal system, including the structure of the courts and sources of law; (3) guidance on how to prepare for and write law school exams.
