Holistic Review
Our JD admissions process is designed to identify exceptional students who bring a broad range of life experiences to the study of law. We aim to cultivate a diverse and unique community where students will form lifelong friendships and learn from one another.
The admissions policies and application procedures are identical for both domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) and international applicants.
We assess your application based on three key sources of information:
- Your Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) results;
- Your post-secondary academic records;
- Your personal profile.
Our review process is holistic, meaning we consider all these factors together. Many students are surprised by how much emphasis we place on the personal profile, as it provides insight that academic performance alone cannot convey. Multiple readers carefully evaluate each file to gain a full understanding of the unique strengths each applicant brings to class.
Because of our holistic approach, if your undergraduate or graduate academic records and LSAT scores fall below our medians, you should still consider applying. Each year, we admit candidates whose overall applications—despite scores that may seem less competitive—demonstrate exceptional merit.
Admissions Policies
These admission policies apply to both domestic (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) and international applicants.
Standards for admission 2020-2025
The law school does not predetermine a minimum level of performance, rather the strongest candidates are selected from the application pool based on the complete person profile, and not just the numerical measures. Accordingly, our metrics do not list a minimum, instead they list the median (i.e. midpoint) performance of the entering class.
