Combined Programs

Combine your JD degree with a second, graduate-level degree in another discipline that complements your legal education.

We offer a wide variety of interdisciplinary combined programs – more than any other law school in Canada, in fact. You save a year or more on the normal time to completion for both degrees.

If you are interested in a combined degree program, you must separately apply to and be admitted by both programs at U of T.

Our admission decisions are not influenced by acceptance into another combined program. It is strongly suggested that applicants submit complete applications to both programs by the law school deadline.

We offer the following 13 combined programs:

Counting Credits

Credit weights assigned by other U of T faculties/departments cannot be changed and must stand as allocated by that department. There are several administrative reasons for this, including:

  1. The University of Toronto Transcript is comprehensive. Each faculty/department sets the credit weight for each course on Quercus.
  2. This weight applies to the course and to every student in the course, therefore, it is not possible for either faculty/department to change the credit weighting for an individual student. Half-year courses are counted as the equivalent of two (2) law school credits. Year-long courses are counted as the equivalent of four (4) law school credits.
